Miraculous Aspects of the Calendar this Coming 2021

The fact that virtually all the world uses the same calendar is a monumental fact, and not a small one. Here are a few things to give thought to:

The astronomical origins of days, months and years. We get the term “day” from the 24 hours it takes for 1 rotation.
· The Lunar month is 28 days. The same duration as a woman’s menstrual cycle. 13 months of 28 days equals 364 days or one year. Of course we now know that the Solar year is 365.25 days for each revolution of Earth around the Sun. The fraction requires a “leap” year every 4 years where February is given a “leap” day, February 29.
· Unless the leap year is divisible by 100 and not divisible by 400.
· Globally all modern cultures conform to these standards.
· A “week “has no astronomical component, yet it is everywhere observed.
· Where did “week” originate?
· The Book of Genesis.

Every time we pen the calendar date we are giving honor and validity to Christ's sacrificial act of atoning our sins and the grace and gift of eternal salvation. Praise God!

When transactions occur between cultures like Muslim, North Korean and Chinese, that have their own starting points, the Western calendar is used as a point of common agreement. The most likely explanation of the global reach of the calendar of the two thousand years it spans time is that it is God-ordained. It takes a monumental occurrence to produce a monumental result. In cause and effect, the outcome tends to be proportional to the cause; the greater the outcome, the greater the cause. If Jesus Christ rose from the dead that would be the greatest event in all of history! If He rose from the dead that authenticates what He said; “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to the Father except by Me.”

Around the world we drive on different sides of the road, measure in metric or feet, inches and miles, we use different electrical plugs and outlets. And we read from left to right while others, from right to left. And many other differences from culture to culture. And yet most of the world uses the same calendar. This global use of a calendar agreeing on the same starting date is unprecedented in human history. We have records of treaties and trade agreements and records of accord between nations, kingdoms, empires and countries throughout history. They were mostly local in nature and short term, lasting only for the duration of the reigning monarch. The rise of a new ruler ended the arrangement and brought forth a new one often by negotiation, politics or by war. So what are we to make of an agreement between nations that are global and have endured for more than two thousand years? It is clear on the face of it that the answer is not merely a political one, rather it points back in time to a “never before and never after series of events that divide history.” These events that are documented eyewitness accounts occurred in a small backwater province of the late Roman Empire. The events as diverse as a virgin birth, a sinless life filled with miracles of healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the 5,000, walking on water, and the execution of a man found innocent by a Roman court, and guilty by a Hebrew court, who rose from the dead, was seen by the disciples and ascended into Heaven before five hundred witnesses is enough to explain the global reach for 2000 years of our calendar!

The calendar proves with unmatched majesty and certainty that what Jesus taught is true. What more clarity could we ask? What other explanation is plausible? Finding no other rational explanation, the enemy tries to de-emphasize the impact by a campaign to change the common usage from A.D. (Anno Domini – The year of our Lord) to C.E. Common Era and B.C.E. before Common Era. It’s too early to say if they will get away with it. Now you have something to say about it! Please start adding to every check you write and every document you sign the A.D. testimony that it is Anno Domini – The Year of our Lord. And ask family and friends to, as well. It can open the door to witnessing opportunities.

Today’s date is agreed on by the governments around the world is an example of what is called, in philosophical discussion, a brute fact. Remember, one aspect of the law of causality, usually described as cause and effect, is that outcomes or effects tend to be proportional to their causes. A firecracker produces a firecracker size effect. A hand grenade, a blockbuster bomb, and a thermonuclear device, tend to produce effects proportional to their size, strength and power.

Review and Reflect:

Now you know and have a reason to believe. Today the global church numbers more than two and a half billion people (including Roman Catholics) who identify themselves as Christians. Can there be any doubt that today and every day that the name of Jesus will be spoken tens of millions of times around the globe mostly in praise but often in cursing? The attempt to explain the calendar apart from God is at best tenuous and tentative. The calendar is global by divine decree. That is common sense unless you are fleeing God. If you have not already done so, I hope by now that you are at least willing to consider that God is good news.
